Photography Competitions and Your Copyright

If you're worried about giving away ownership of your photos simply by entering a photography competition, you're not alone. A number of of Photocompetitions.com.au readers have sent in alerts about competitions that are "rights grabs".

The Australian newspaper recently ran a story on a competition requiring all entrants, regardless of whether they win a prize or not, to assign their copyright to the competition organisers, forever.

The Australian newspaper interviewed the executive director of Australia's Arts Law Centre, Robyn Ayres, who advises against entering such competitions.

I've written a short entry on this subject with links to expert advice and The Australian newspaper article. The article would certainly be of interest to photographers from all countries.
