I'll never forget visiting the Smithsonian Institution museums in Washington DC. My favourite was the National Air and Space Museum. I was amazed the Apollo lunar modules, which carried astronauts to the moon's surface, looked so flimsy.The Smithsonian has its own magazine and this year they're running their annual photo contest for the 9th time.
There are five categories, including one called Altered Images which allows the use of special effects for artistic purposes - great for you Photoshop experts.
